Susan Chapman Website Relaunch

08/07/26, 10:00

Susan Chapman’s textile art, sketchbooks, teaching and current studio practice.

The newly updated Susan M Chapman website is now live, bringing together Susan’s artwork, sketchbooks, teaching, current projects and professional background in one clearer place.

Susan is an artist working mainly with printed and stitched textiles. Her practice is rooted in drawing, observation, cloth, colour, stitch and the human figure. Across her work there is a continuing interest in people: how we carry memory, how we relate to one another, and how traces of a life can remain present through image, surface and mark.

The new website gives visitors a better introduction to Susan’s studio practice and the ideas behind her work. It includes her gallery, information about current and developing projects, details of her AGORA mentoring work, lectures and teaching, and a full CV.

A particular focus of Susan’s current work is old family photographs: faces without names, fragments of lives, and the need to create a story around people who have gone before. Drawing and sketchbooks remain central to this process, giving Susan a place to think, record, test and develop ideas before they become larger textile works.

The site also connects naturally with Granary Studio, Susan’s teaching studio in Owslebury, where she continues to teach and host a programme of specialist courses with experienced visiting tutors.

The aim of the updated website is simple: to give Susan’s own work room to breathe. It offers a clearer sense of her practice, her influences, her teaching background and the ongoing questions that continue to shape her art.
