Tutor Bio
Rachael Singleton is a South Yorkshire-based textile and mixed-media artist, tutor and mentor. Her work combines paper, fabric, fibres, stitch and found or gathered materials to create layered, one-of-a-kind pieces and small series.
Rachael has exhibited through textile and art groups, projects and galleries, and has taught workshops and mentored artists nationally. An ILM-qualified coach and mentor, with a background in education and creative development, she brings thoughtful guidance, material knowledge and clear creative support to her teaching.

Rachael Singleton’s work is conceptually led, bringing together textile processes, mixed media, stitch, surface and found materials. She is drawn to the natural world, particularly small details that invite close looking: stones, feathers, lichen, seed heads, edges, fragments and traces.
Her practice often develops through complex, layered surfaces, combining paper, fabric, fibres and mark-making to create work with a quiet but concentrated presence. Ideas of containment, touch, memory, home and attention recur across her work, whether in stitched vessels, textured surfaces, paintings or sculptural forms.
Rachael’s work is exploratory and reflective, balancing material experimentation with a strong sense of care and observation. Her teaching and mentoring draw on this same approach, supporting students to develop confidence, clarify direction and find their own creative voice through process, material investigation and thoughtful making.
