Description

Sketchbooks is an eight-session course introducing ways of keeping a sketchbook as part of a regular creative practice.

The course is not about producing a finished artwork. Instead, it focuses on using a sketchbook as a place to record ideas, experiences, projects, journeys and observations, creating a useful resource for future reference, development and reflection.

The course is structured as follows:

Session 1: Introduction, including making papers for future collage work
Session 2: Creative collage
Session 3: Using, altering and embellishing photographs
Session 4: Edges and limited fields of vision
Session 5: Flaps and windows
Session 6: Monoprinting
Session 7: Adding text
Session 8: Making simple books

Each session introduces a different approach, with students encouraged to combine techniques as the course progresses. The aim is to help participants use their sketchbooks more confidently, both as a record of experience and as a starting point for future creative work.
