Description

Printed Textiles is an eight-session course introducing the use of Procion dyes, thickened to create dye paints, for a range of textile printmaking techniques.

Each session focuses on a different approach, giving participants the opportunity to explore colour, fabric, printing blocks, paper screens, monoprinting, Thermofax, tray dyeing, shibori, free drawing, scraping, breakdown printing, wax resist and bleach discharge.

The course is designed to help students print their own designs more confidently and effectively, while developing an understanding of how different techniques can be combined. As the year progresses, participants will be encouraged to build on earlier sessions, experiment with process and develop more individual printed textile work.
