Description
An introduction to dyeing with natural dyes, covering fabric preparation, mixing dye extracts, post-care, plant extraction and some of the common misconceptions around natural dyeing.
Students will begin by working with just three colours. Through dyeing, overdyeing and modification, they will create a wide range of different samples on cotton.
The class will then move on to plant extraction, as well as exploring some of the more common natural dye extracts available on the market.
By the end of the workshop, students will have a varied collection of samples which can be assembled into a useful reference for future use.
