Description

Masterclass Textiles is for students who are ready to work with greater independence and want to push their textile practice further.

Rather than following a fixed project from start to finish, participants will be given creative challenges by Susan Chapman. These are intended to provide direction, momentum and a starting point for new work. Some challenges may last for a single session, while others may develop over a longer period, depending on the group and the direction the work begins to take.

This course is suited to those who are confident enough to make their own decisions, but who value the structure of regular sessions, the stimulus of a group, and Susan’s guidance when needed. The emphasis is on experimentation, development and building a more personal body of work.

Participants will work independently for much of the time, with Susan offering advice, challenge and intervention where useful. The course is designed to encourage students to extend their ideas, take risks and use the studio as a place for sustained creative development.
